#1 The Affirmation Series - "Use the difficulty"

Each issue of the Affirmations For The Mind will offer a selection of affirmations.

Today's affirmations are in the area of - "Use the difficulty":

At age 70, with over 70 movies to his name actor Michael Caine offers the following advice on: "We have a choice in how we react to situations."

This is how Michael learned this lesson as a young actor:

I was in rehearsals, waiting behind a door to come out while a couple onstage were having a row. They started throwing furniture and a chair lodged in front of the door.

My cue came and I could only get halfway in. I stopped and said, 'I can't get in. The chair's in the way.'

And the producer said, 'Use the difficulty.'

I said, 'What do you mean?'

And he said, 'Well, if it's a drama, you're acting in, pick up the chair and smash it. If it's a comedy, fall over it.'

This idea stuck in my mind, and I taught it to my children -- that any situation in life that's negative, there is something positive you can do with it.

Use the difficulty' -- it's like a motto in our family.

And it's a motto for me, too.

Let's see how we can apply some affirmations to learn this lesson:

* I now look for the positive in all situations
* Every cloud has a silver lining
* I can now turn any situation into a positive
* I look for the challenge in all situations
* I am an alchemist, I can turn negative into positive

Practice:

1. Work with these affirmations over the next couple of days.

2. Recall Michael's story as this will help convey the message to your unconscious mind.

3. Look for situations during the next days where you can apply the lesson.

4. Recall a situation from the past and see how you could have applied the lesson, visualize how would things have turned out?

5. Come up with at least two affirmations of you own:

Greater Than Starfish
In the Virgin Islands, I saw a lizard being chased by a cat who swiped off its tail. A local fellow laughed and told me, "In a short time, the tail will grow again." The regenerative power of nature is miraculous. If an earthworm is cut in half, it will regrow itself to completion. If a starfish loses a limb, it will be renewed.

If such rudimentary creatures as worms and starfish can regenerate lost body parts, so can we. Surely we are at least as evolved as an earthworm! I know a man who regrew a part of his thumb after losing a section in a construction accident. I met a woman who, after having a lung removed, regenerated it. These people are not exceptions to the laws of nature; they are reminders of our potential.

Let us open our minds to manifest the blueprint of our perfection. Created in the image and likeness of an all-powerful God, we have the capacity to be whole at all times.
